FAQs

Got questions? We’ve got answer...

Is SeloraBody suitable for rented homes?

Yes — and it's actually ideal for renters. Because SeloraBody requires no drilling, no plumbing and no permanent changes to your bathroom, it can be installed and removed without leaving a trace. When you move out, simply unscrew it and take it with you. Your landlord will never know it was there.

What does the filter actually do?

SeloraBody uses a 20-stage filtration system to remove chlorine, limescale, heavy metals, sediment and other impurities from your shower water. Chlorine is added to UK tap water to kill bacteria — which is good for drinking, but harsh on skin and hair. Hard water minerals build up on your hair shaft and clog your pores over time. Our filter works at the source, so every shower is cleaner before it even touches your skin or hair. No creams, no workarounds — just better water.

Will I notice a difference immediately?

Some customers notice softer skin and less hair frizz within the first week. For most people, the biggest changes appear after 2–4 weeks of consistent use — this is how long it typically takes for your skin and hair to recover from the buildup of chlorine and hard water minerals. Results vary depending on your local water hardness. You can check your area on our Water Report page to get an idea of what to expect.

What's inside the filter — what exactly does it remove?

SeloraBody uses a 20-stage filtration process combining multiple filter media including KDF, activated carbon, calcium sulphite and ceramic balls. Together these target chlorine, chloramine, heavy metals like lead and mercury, limescale, sediment, rust and bacteria. Most competitor filters use 12–15 stages. More stages means more thorough filtration — and a cleaner shower.

What happens if I don’t replace the filter on time?

Once the filter reaches the end of its lifespan, it stops filtering effectively — meaning unfiltered water passes through as if there's no filter at all. You may also notice a gradual drop in water pressure as a sign it's time to replace. We recommend replacing every 3 months, or every 2 months if you're in a hard water area like London or the South East. We'll send you a reminder email so you never have to think about it.

Does the showerhead reduce limescale?

Yes — limescale reduction is one of SeloraBody's core functions. Limescale is caused by calcium and magnesium minerals in hard water. Over time these minerals coat your showerhead, your hair and your skin. SeloraBody's multi-stage filter captures these minerals before the water reaches you, resulting in noticeably softer water, less limescale buildup in your bathroom, and healthier hair and skin over time.

Is it safe for sensitive skin or eczema?

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons people choose SeloraBody. Chlorine and hard water minerals are known triggers for eczema flare-ups and sensitive skin reactions. By removing these from your shower water, many customers with eczema or reactive skin report fewer flare-ups and less irritation after showering. We always recommend consulting your dermatologist if you have a diagnosed skin condition, but SeloraBody is designed to make your shower as gentle as possible.

Can I use SeloraBody if I have a water softener installed?

Yes, SeloraBody works alongside a water softener. While a water softener reduces hardness minerals, it doesn't remove chlorine or other impurities — which is where SeloraBody adds value. Many customers with water softeners still use SeloraBody for the chlorine and heavy metal filtration specifically.

Do I need tools to install it?

No tools needed at all. SeloraBody connects to any standard G1/2 shower fitting — the same fitting used on the vast majority of UK showers. Simply unscrew your existing showerhead by hand and screw SeloraBody on in its place. If the connection feels loose, the included thread tape creates a secure, watertight seal. That's it.

How long does installation take?

Most customers are up and running in under 2 minutes. Unscrew your old showerhead, screw on SeloraBody, done. No plumber, no drilling, no complicated setup. If you run into any issues during installation, our support team responds within 24 hours and we'll walk you through it.

What if my water pressure is low?

SeloraBody is designed with an anti-clog filtration system that maintains consistent water pressure throughout the filter's lifespan. If your home already has low water pressure, the showerhead will perform at the same level as your existing setup — it won't reduce pressure further. If you notice a significant drop in pressure, this usually means the filter needs replacing sooner than expected, which can happen in very hard water areas.

Can the showerhead get clogged?

SeloraBody's anti-clog design prevents the buildup that causes blockages in standard showerheads. The filter is specifically engineered to capture impurities inside the cartridge rather than letting them accumulate in the head itself. As long as you replace the filter every 3 months, clogging is not something you'll need to worry about.

My water looks cloudy after installing a new filter — is this normal?

Completely normal — and nothing to worry about. The cloudiness is caused by tiny air bubbles that get trapped inside the new filter during the first few uses. It disappears within a day or two as the filter settles in. If cloudiness persists beyond the first week, feel free to reach out to our support team and we'll take a look.

Does SeloraBody work with my shower?

SeloraBody fits any standard wall-mounted shower with a G1/2 thread connection — the most common fitting in UK homes. Installation takes under 2 minutes with no tools required, and nothing about your existing plumbing needs to be modified or damaged. Simply unscrew your current showerhead and twist SeloraBody on. Perfect if you're renting — no landlord permission needed.

One important note: SeloraBody is not compatible with electric showers. Electric showers heat water internally and have a different connection type — our filter works with mixer showers and standard wall-mounted setups only. If you're unsure which type you have, feel free to send us a photo at support@selorabody.com and we'll confirm before you order.

Will this solve hard water?

SeloraBody significantly reduces the effects of hard water by filtering out chlorine, limescale particles and heavy metals — the substances that dry out your skin and dull your hair. It is not a water softener and won't change the hardness level of your water, but it removes the damaging substances that cause the visible effects most people associate with hard water. Most customers in hard water areas like London and the South East notice a clear difference within 2–3 weeks.

Does it help with dry or frizzy hair?

Yes. Chlorine and mineral deposits coat the hair shaft after every shower, stripping moisture and causing dryness and frizz. No matter how good your shampoo or conditioner is, unfiltered water can undo it every morning. By filtering these substances at the source, most SeloraBody customers notice softer, smoother hair within 2–3 weeks — without changing a single product in their routine.

Why is SeloraBody different from other filtered showerheads?

Most filtered showerhead brands overclaim, hide subscription costs and have poor customer service — we know because we read every review in the category before building SeloraBody. We do things differently: honest filter lifespan guidance based on your water hardness, no subscriptions ever, a 60-day risk-free trial, 2-year warranty and support that actually responds. The product speaks for itself — but so does the way we treat our customers.

Is the showerhead safe for children or babies?

Yes — and it's particularly beneficial for sensitive skin. SeloraBody reduces chlorine, heavy metals and limescale from shower water, making it significantly gentler. This is especially relevant for children with eczema or sensitive skin conditions, which are clinically linked to hard water exposure according to the British Skin Foundation.

Does the filter affect my water pressure?

No. The SeloraBody showerhead is designed to maintain consistent water pressure throughout the filter's lifespan. The 20-stage filtration works through contact time with the water, not by restricting flow. You get filtered water at full pressure, every shower.

If you ever notice a drop in pressure, it's usually a sign the filter needs replacing. A fresh filter restores it immediately.

Are replacement filters sold separately — and when should I replace them?

Yes — available as a single Filter Refill (£28) or a Year's Supply of 4 filters (£89). No subscription required — buy when you're ready.

Filters last up to 3 months depending on your water hardness and how often you shower. In harder water areas like London and the South East, we recommend replacing every 2 months for the best results. In softer water regions, one filter can comfortably last the full 3 months. A quick note: some earlier packaging mentioned 6–8 weeks — this was a production error on our end. The correct recommendation is 3 months, adjusted for your water hardness.

How do I replace the filter?

Simply twist off the filter housing, remove the used filter, insert the new one and twist back. No tools, no plumber — done in under a minute. Every order includes a step-by-step installation guide, and a full Care Guide is available to download on this page.

Do you offer free returns?

Yes. You have 60 days to try SeloraBody completely risk-free. If you don't notice a difference in your skin or hair, contact us at support@selorabody.com and we'll arrange a return — no questions asked, no small print. We stand behind the product completely.

What if the product doesn’t work for my water?

Our 60-day trial exists exactly for this reason. Water quality varies across the UK and we know results can differ. If you try SeloraBody and genuinely don't feel a difference, reach out and we'll make it right — whether that's troubleshooting advice, a replacement or a full refund. We'd rather you be honest with us than disappointed.

What does the 2-year warranty cover?

The 2-year warranty covers any manufacturing defects or product faults. If something isn't right with your showerhead within 2 years of purchase, contact us and we'll replace it. No complicated claim process, no small print — just straightforward support. This is one of the longest warranties in the category because we're confident in the quality of what we make.
